Pet Restrictions at Eagle Island

To maintain cleanliness and prevent harmful bacteria in the lake, the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) has adopted a “no pets in the lake” policy. When visiting the park, please keep your pets on a leash, always pick up their waste, and be aware that pets are not allowed on the beach or in the lake.

However, the park still offers designated off-leash areas as part of a pilot program. These off-leash areas can be found on specific trails and in the newly designated Dogs Off-Leash Area, as indicated on the park map. Owners must demonstrate control over their pets, ensuring they do not disturb other visitors or wildlife and can be recalled at any time.

The 212-acre Dogs Off-Leash Area, located south of the main access road and the old Slaughterhouse and Warden’s House, is a working farm that may have flood irrigation. Please note that some off-leash areas will be unavailable due to the construction of a new campground and pond starting in spring 2023.

When using off-leash areas and trails, owners must adhere to the following requirements: dogs cannot harass people, wildlife, or other pets; owners must carry a leash and waste bag, and clean up after their pets. Additionally, on off-leash trails, unleashed dogs must be within 30 feet of their owner and under voice control.

Fees To Enter or use The Park

Eagle Island State Park offers a variety of activities and amenities for visitors to enjoy. The Motor Vehicle Entry Fee (MVEF) is $7 per vehicle per day, while Idaho residents can take advantage of the Idaho State Parks Passport for just $10 annually (then there is no additional fee to enter the park if you have the passport!). Out-of-state residents can purchase an $80 annual permit, available at all park offices, online, and by phone at 1-888-922-6743.

For group fees and reservation information, please contact the park office. Additional amenities include a coin-operated air compressor for two quarters and a water slide with pricing options of $1 per ride, $8 for 10 rides, or $12 for an all-day ride bracelet. Disc golf enthusiasts can enjoy the course at no additional charge, but remember to bring your own discs.

Professional photographers must pay a $100 fee per calendar year, and a filming permit application is required. Rentals are also available, with corn hole sets offered at a rate of 2 hours for $10.
